Philippines and Vietnam sign defense agreement

MANILA — The Philippines and Vietnam signed a defense cooperation agreement on Friday in Manila, marking a significant strengthening in relations for the two Southeast Asian nations that face Chinese aggression in the South China Sea.

Philippine Defense Secretary Gilberto Teodoro and his Vietnamese counterpart Phan Van Giang signed letters of intent to facilitate closer ties after Phan paid a courtesy call on Philippine President Ferdinand Marcos Jr.
